10 tips to a peaceful bedroom
My last post was me describing my bedroom. But I wanted to share in a separate post some more steps into creating a peaceful place. For you!!
1. DECLUTTER!
•no one likes clutter. Yes Susan in the back— not you either! Clutter is frustrating. It’s annoying and it’s definitely NOT peaceful. Got a chair in your room you throw stuff on? CLEAR IT AWAY! got junk piling up on your nightstand? Pick through it and throw out what’s not good! If it DOESN’T bring you JOY.. get rid of it. Seriously. It’ll help!
2. Wanting a new color? Choose peaceful colors!
Stay away from DARK colors. Or even- just keep the dark color to an accent wall. Whatever brings you peace! It could be different between me and you. I got a dark living room because I find dark; cozy! But my bedroom I aimed for peace. Which I think of light colors. Stay neutral so it doesn’t clash with any decor!
3. Add texture.
I chose the gold sequin pillows for my texture. They were actually a gift for Christmas. But hey- it works! It brings everything together. I love it. Even a shag rug in front of your bed or a nice textured blanket throw on your bed.. perfect!
4. Curtains.
They bring the room together as well. We have a black out blind that we pull down. We have another window to the right that still has the black out blind. So I chose to stay with sheer white curtains to help brighten it up. I love that light and airy feeling.
5. Wall hangings
DONT over do it! Keep light. Keep simple. No flashy un matching decor. Something that has contrast to your room!
6. Keep electronics OUT
We removed our TV and replaced it with a photo of us! Bedroom time is our time. When we want to watch TV we go downstairs or to the living room. Yes sometimes I wish I could watch tv in bed but I’m glad it’s not there!
7.Make your bed
Keep your bed fresh- in order and clean! Keep the clothes away, the blanket flat and clean. Have your pillows, like your ducks! All in a row! I was never one to have more then 4 pillows on a bed. Now we have 8. Decor pillows really make a difference.
8. Scent
Light some candles. Have a scentsy? Get a nice scent and turn it on. Something yummy and relaxing. Your room will always smell fresh along with looking fresh!
9.Free drawer space
Opening your closet or your drawers and always having clothes fall out? That’s annoying as well. Take ALL your clothes. Every. Single. Item. Pile it onto your bed! Pick each item one by one. If you have no connection to it, donate it! Get rid of things you don’t like or never wear. It’ll feel good. Trust me!
10.Clean
Dark furniture is the worse. I always say this and I always get dark anyway. Dust your furniture- clean your fan! Clean your windows. Get pledge and get to wiping down the wood! Wash your floors with wax. Make everything clean and shiny. It’s a painfor the first time but only do it every couple of weeks to keep the shine. Dust every other day and it won’t be so bad. I promise :)
