sundaynight

The Sunday Night Feeling Sunday nights hit a little differently when you’re a mom. The house might finally be quiet. The kids are winding down. The laundry is mostly folded, the dishes are mostly done, and you’re mentally scrolling through everything tomorrow is going to bring. Appointments. School stuff. Sports. Work. Groceries. Laundry. The things you forgot to do this weekend. And approximately 47 things nobody told you about yet. 😂 But tonight, before Monday gets here, take a minute. You made it through another week. Maybe you didn’t get everything done. Maybe you lost your patience. Maybe the house is still a mess. Maybe you spent half the weekend driving kids around and the other half trying to catch up. It’s okay. You don’t have to start Monday with everything figured out. Sometimes a Sunday night reset is simply taking a shower, putting on comfy clothes, crawling into bed and deciding that tomorrow is another chance. So take a breath, Mama. Monday ...

Not Everyone Deserves a Front-Row Seat to My Children’s Lives I’ve reached a point in my life where I’ve realized something that took me a long time to accept: just because someone is family, has known us for years, or once played an important role in my life doesn’t mean they automatically deserve a place in my children’s lives. I used to feel guilty about that. I felt like I had to keep certain relationships alive. I had to keep forgiving, keep explaining, keep making excuses, keep putting my feelings aside because  “that’s family”  or because I didn’t want my kids to miss out on having certain people in their lives. They see who genuinely cares about them and who only shows up when it’s convenient. And I can’t keep teaching my kids that they should tolerate unhealthy relationships just because they’re difficult to walk away from. sometimes loving your children means removing people from their orbit, even when it’s painful. So I’m learning to let people go. Not because I hat...

The Random Things That Only Make Sense When You’re a Mom of Four There are some things that happen in a house with four kids that you simply cannot explain to people who don’t have four kids. Actually… sometimes you can’t explain them to people who have four kids either.  😂 At some point, you just stop asking questions..Like when you find a random sock in the fridge. You stare at it for a second & You think,  How did you even get here?  And then you close the fridge and move on because honestly, you have bigger things to worry about. You buy snacks. They disappear… You went grocery shopping yesterday. You bought enough snacks to feed a small army. Somehow, by Wednesday afternoon, there are three crackers, half a granola bar and a questionable-looking apple left in the cupboard. And you’re pretty sure you didn’t eat any of it. You have approximately 47 water bottles..But somehow, nobody has a water bottle. There are water bottles under beds. In the SUV. Beside ...

The Weird Little In-Between: When Summer Isn’t Over, But You Can Feel Fall Coming There’s something weird about this part of August. Summer isn’t over… but you can feel it changing. The days are still warm. The kids are still sleeping later than they should. Bedtimes have basically become a suggestion, and there’s probably at least one popsicle wrapper, wet towel, or random pair of flip-flops somewhere in the house that shouldn’t be there. 😂 But underneath all of that summer chaos, there’s this little feeling that routine is coming. And honestly? I have mixed feelings about it. Part of me is craving it. I miss having a schedule. I miss knowing what day it is. I miss getting everyone where they need to be without having to answer, “What are we doing today?” approximately 47 times before lunch. But another part of me wants to hold onto summer for as long as possible. Because these lazy mornings won’t last forever. The kids won’t always wander out of the bedroom looking for br...
